A Heartfelt Thank You to St Woolos & Maindee Primary Schools
The Open Table & The Open Pantry – Official Launch Reflections
This week marked a truly special moment at Community Connect Newport as we officially launched The Open Table & The Open Pantry — our newest initiatives under the Newport Multibank.
We were honoured to be joined by pupils and staff from St Woolos Primary School and Maindee Primary School, whose presence brought energy, insight, and compassion to the day.
Meaningful Conversations, Real Impact
From the moment they arrived, it was clear that these young learners had a deep understanding of the world around them. They asked thoughtful questions, shared their observations, and reminded us — with clarity and heart — why this work is so essential.
We explored topics including:
The root causes of poverty
The challenges of food insecurity
The importance of listening to children’s voices
The need for long-term, sustainable solutions
Together, we agreed: tackling poverty means addressing more than just hunger. It’s about equity, opportunity, and community resilience.
Looking Ahead: Partnerships That Matter
This visit was more than symbolic — it was a spark for future collaboration. Whether it's through:
Food banks
Baby banks
Uniform exchanges
Community allotments
or shared learning and advocacy…
We know that working together creates real, lasting change.
Moving Forward, Together
We extend our deepest thanks to everyone at St Woolos and Maindee Primary Schools for their commitment to community, social justice, and young people's voices. You’ve inspired us — and we’re excited about what we can achieve together.
Here’s to a stronger, more compassionate Newport — one partnership at a time.
