🌸 Brewing Connection Through Blooms: Cwtch Chai’s Flower & Coffee Workshop at The Open Table & Pantry

Today, the air at 92 Commercial Street, Newport, was filled with the scent of fresh flowers and the rich aroma of artisan coffee – all thanks to Cwtch Chai’s Flower & Coffee Workshop, hosted at The Open Table & Pantry.

As part of the Durable community wellbeing initiative, the workshop invited local residents to step out of their busy routines and into a calm, welcoming space designed for connection, creativity, and care.

 
A Moment to Pause – and Bloom 🌿

With flower stems in one hand and coffee cups in the other, attendees were guided through the mindful process of creating their own hand-tied bouquets. This wasn’t just about floral design – it was about offering people the chance to slow down, be present, and create something beautiful in a safe, inclusive space.

Workshops like these are more than just events. They are acts of community resilience. They create opportunity for neighbours to meet, for isolated individuals to engage, and for people to feel seen and supported – often over a simple cup of chai.

Cwtch Chai, an initiative of Newport Support Network CIC, is part of a wider Newport Multibank vision – delivering dignity-first services that meet real needs without judgement. Hosted through The Open Table & Pantry, this series of pop-up experiences is designed to combine food, friendship, and wellbeing in a relaxed, culturally aware environment.

Whether it’s a flower arranging class, a mocktail demo, or a warm lunch shared with others, every Cwtch Chai session is created to foster durable connections – the kind that help communities thrive, even in tough times.
